My VCR, DVD and receiver are going to be separated from the TV by about a 50 foot cable run. Initially its going to be just composite video. Later, hopefully soon, its going to be HDTV.Anybody have suggestions on:
Type of cable to use
Type of connectors to use
Amplifiers
Anything elseThanks.

If you were running cable TV over 50 feet, coax is fine in that length. But if you are running 50 feet of S-Video or component cable from a DVD player or processor/switcher to a video display, you MUST use an amplified video cable... those devices do not output a strong enough signal to survive that long of a run. The Camelot powered video cables seem to perform better than cheaper versions, yet aren't terribly expensive. I don't see a Camelot web site, but Audio Advisor appears to carry some Camelot products, not sure if they have the powered video cables or not.
No problem with ordinary video coax composite cable for that length - do not waste dollars buying fancy stuff and no fancy connectors are necessary although if I was making it up now I would use gold plated ones & silver solder. I ran those sort of lengths for years without problem and also used a 50 ft of Monster s-video cable - actually still have it. You have reminded me to put it up for auction.Even with component video, in my experience you do not need to be fussy about cable.
Not sure what you mean by amplifiers - you will not have enough loss in the cable to warrant that. FYI I was feeding video from a standard video recorder with composite cable and from a Theta Data III CD/LD player with the s-video cable.
