Are all DTS DVD'S contain DD also , I mean , could a DD( AC3 ) only DVD player play play all films on DVD .?
Follow Ups:
Yes but not all are DD 5.1. Some of the early titles have DTS 5.1 and DD 2.0. Now most have both in 5.1 (or more).dp
There is a reason for this. All DVD's have to have either a PCM or and Mpeg audio track (depending on region) AC3 Dolby is also universally supported. As PCM is uncompressed and limits the data rates for video track on DVD and mpeg is not recognised format for North America only guaranteed option is Dolby AC3 (usually supported as 5.1). If a film was issued with DTS sound would have to have one of the three aforementioned audio tracks as well.Roland
