I'm not sure if my Pioneer combo player will output in the coax digital output the DTS signal. I think the model is CDV 700.
It is hooked up to a Ref 30 B@K and when I selected DTS in a DVD I purchased (music only) not DVD-A, it would only play DD-5.1.
Also The D.D. track had a lot of "skips", could this be a bad copy?
Thanks for your imput

Follow Ups:
Not all players output DTS as I have just also discovered. Our Toshiba, only 2 years old, does not.Not sure about your "skips" problem but the disc is more likely th4e problem if you have not noticed any problems with DVDs.

Thanks John,
At least I know I'm not alone!
Now what to do? S.A.C.D.? DVD-A? or wait for the dust to settle.

Meridian look like coming out with some nice products in a few months - they are part of the DVD-A crowd, not liked on hi-rez. Not sure about SACD myself so will see what emerges re surround sound etc. I'm not too fussed about no DTS at the moment. For movies etc DD 5.1 seems fine & new release music DVDs are using DD 5.1, not DTS. This is not to say DTS is not better as reported, just that the software is limited, the gains not huge so the expense to get it (as the sole reason to upgrade) is not justified IMO.John
