Craig, if you use a progressive DVD player, obviously what you watch it on (tv/prjector/etc..) *must* have progressive too. But I caution you, the images I've seen from a fairly talented friend of mine (he too has visted the site you listed, and many others)come out the same or a notch better than regular VHS tape. If you use the more expensive DVDR's then your in fat city (but you need a dvd burner = more $). Just my 2 cents, I'm not trying to dissuade you, just warn you. Good luck !

My objectives are not only to create and watch my own VCD's, but also to have a great DVD movie watching experience.A DVD player must have both progressive (for DVD) and CDR/RW for VCD/XVCD/SVCD's.
MP3 would be a extra bonus..
