I'm not necessarily looking for a super-duper 5.1 digital solution .. I've just run out of ways to hook all this stuff up, plus it's getting to be a pain in the ass switching between video sources! I've got 3 stereo sources and 3 more with video. Any suggestions on a receiver, or even just a switch, that could help me deal with this? I wouldn't mind replacing the receiver .. the universal remote dosn't know how to talk to it anyway :)
Follow Ups:
I've seen them advertised, but don't know anything about them. Once a salesman wanted to sell me a pre/pro without a switcher and also sell me a stand alone video switcher. He said it was best to keep the video signal out of the preamp. Who knows if it's true.I do know that I have the option on my S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD to turn off the video circuitry while playing CDs and SACDs. I use it at times, but have never really compared the sound to see if it cleans things up. Sony must think it matters--to go through the expense of adding the button/option.
They review, and rate, a number of receivers with Denon getting high praise. This might give you a first lead for auditioning gear in your home.Alternative idea - get a universal remote which has macros. Our Pronto (programmable from a PC) can control a very complex system - even my wife can operate it!!!!!
