are their any advantages to getting a dolby digital equipped reciever vs. a dolby digital ready reciever ? the difference in cost is about the same as difference in digital equipped/ready dvd players. any sound diff ? any other equipment available to take advantage of the reciever that is dolby digital equipped ? thanks
I guess the wiring is bit easier and cheaper with a DD equipped Receiver, otherwise either a DB25 cable or 6 RCA cables are needed I believe. It is the general consensus that it is better to buy the DD receiver than have the DD in the source (ie. DVD player) since it is more flexible and you only need one "digital" cable. You can also take advantage of DD broadcast audio from say a satellite dish.Jay
A DD ready receiver does give you the one advantage of picking your own DD/DTS (or whatever else in the future) processor and upgrading it if you desire. I agree that the built in DD processing in DVD players is, IMHO, a waste of dollars and agree with you on the simplicity of hookup of DD receivers.
