Maybe one of you experts can help me since no one at the store knows anything about what they are selling...I have two DVD players, each connected to a Sony TV. Whenever I've tried to hook it up using the S-Video cables, all that comes through is black and white pictures. I've tried connecting it through the receiver also, and I get the same thing.
Anybody ever hear of this???
Thanks

First, lemme guess: do you have the S-video and a composite (yellow) cable hooked up to the same input i.e. video 1?If so, disconnect the regular composite cable and leave the S-video cable in.
I had the same problem and swore it was my VCR causing it!
My cheap svhs cable works well most of the time. Once in a while (and usually during a movie) the color will drop to B&W. I get behind the set and pull the cable, then plug it back in. This restores the color. As others said, maybe the cable is bad. I'd wiggle it first before going shopping.....BH
Had same problem and it was a bad cable.
YES!! I have had that EXACT same problem!!It was a defective S-Video cable. Bought a more reliable S-Video cable from a different brand, and the picture was awesome.
Good Luck!
For starters, check the video setting on the TV. My Sony will allow different video settings for each video input. Maybe the video input you have selected was set to a B&W setting or somehow the color setting was turned way down (no color would make the picture seem B&W as my Sony has this capability). If this is not the case, try using a different S-Video cable. The one you're using may have an open in the chroma (color) side. Still not fixed? The dreaded trip to the service center.
