Doesn't matter if you use the players decoder or the amps, still has to be decoded before it is amplified!Good point! I should've checked with my brain before I posted that. So what I'm understanding is that for standard, 2-channel, CD music, it should be no detriment to use a DVD player with DD/DTS decoding as opposed to one without. Right?

Depends on the amplifier, the DVD the decoders circuit. You can spend £40,000 on an amplifier. several thousand on a CD player. I would check it out and see if you are happy with the quality you recieve for the budget you have. If you can't afford both and you want to have DVD spend your money on that, thats what I would do.
