Can't say if it' better or worse than any other DVD since it's my first DVD player.
I like it.
It plays all the layers, It does have small moments of pause in layer changes/scene swappings
As a DVD-A player can't say either cuz I ain't got any DVD-A discs.
As a CD player it's fair to good, My Rotel/Adcom combo sounds cleaner and clearer, but the Technics is ok, but has a smooth 'crimped' sound sorta the way all Nakamichi stuff has that sort of 'dark' veil around the sound. Same thing but different. On old early 'bad" CDs the oversampling does a fair job of eliminating the treble terror that plagued the early releases
The big thing is it's available (or was) at J&R Music for $600 and is a steal at that price. I paid $800 at my local 'crazy Mo's" type place
and a rebate was for $100 that closed Jan 31.
