I'm using an Arcam AVR-100 as a HT/music amplifier. I also employ a subwoofer in the equation so I would like to use a smaller pair of stand mounted speakers so the integration will be better with the sub.
Can anyone suggest a stand-mounter in the $500-600 US funds range that would work well with the Arcam for both music and HT??, thanks.

I have found the AVR100 to mate well with most speakers for both home theater and music. I have used several small sub sat systems for HT and a larger floor standing system. I have also used a very efficient pair of "high end" speakers with powered subs with very good results. My only caution is not to use inefficient speakers or speakers with low impedances. The AVR100 can sound very good and when driving efficient speakers that are 6 or 8 ohms it sounds wonderful!Roger Kanno
Yes, I am finding the same thing too. I am currently trying a modestly priced pair of Monitor Audio Bronze 2, so far, so good.
Audioman,I too am using the Arcam AVR100 for both 2-channel and HT usage. I am currently looking into upgrading my speakers also. Right now I am using the NHT SuperOne's for my front-channel system, and for my money, you can't find a better speaker in the 5-600 dollar range in terms of accuracy and dynamics. I know that some others won't agree with my assesment, but for me, these speakers are a real bargain, and are even under your budget at around $350 a pair. My only complaint would be that they are a little power hungry with a 86db sensitivity rating, but they go loud without strain, and I've never heard them lose it at higher volumes. Some others to think about might be the B&W 602 series or the newer CM range, which just came out I believe, and even some PSB models. I hope this helps a little.

I have to say that the B&W 600 series 2 speakers BLOW. I hate to bash ANY product, but I HATE these speakers. I had some old BOSTON HD-5 that sounded better than the big 602 s2!!!! Please listen to that speaker and make a determination for yourself, but DO NOT buy them without hearing first. YUK!! heh. . .I also owned the NHT, and can say they are really nice. . . A bit antiseptic, but the Arcam smooths them out a bit too.

When I first auditioned this receiver, I tried it with the B&W 602s. The treble justabout drove me out the door, really bright!... I'm trying some Monitor Audios now and although can get a little agressive on some parts, are a much better match.... I will be trying the PSB RT-4 floorstander this weekend.... Audioman
