Assuming your component output is standard interlaced component video, you would need a device like the Iscan Pro.http://www.dvdo.com/dvdo/iscanpro.asp

According to the literature I've read, the MSB modified Sony 7700 DVD player outputs progressive scan RGB through an analog DVI port. They offer an adaptor to fit your monitor's DB-15HD VGA input. This modification is really quite remarkable, nothing else like it out there that I've seen (exept a DVD equipped PC, another good option for you). The MSB mod Sony 7700 will upconvert the native mpeg digital (no analog stage between player and upconverter) video to 480p, 540p, 720p, 768p, 864p, 1024p, and 1200p.http://www.msbtech.com/
This place sells it for $1525 (might as well buy a Dell)
