Check out this player if you can (list price of $799). Dealers may not have it yet in your area, so you will have to call first. The ads for this new player just started appearing this month. Go to www.denon.com for the literature and owners manual (pdf).

Is it safe to purchase a product that is not "consumer" tested?indy
You can read consumer reviews of the 2800 here:http://www.audioreview.com/reviews/DVD/product_69244.shtml
You'll see that a large number of people are irate over some apparently serious progressive scan problems. Denon will probably square things up soon, but be aware that the first batch may have defects.
Other than that, sounds like a great machine!
Audition components in your system before you buy them. If the dealer doesn't allow you to audition them in your own system (many have demo models for this), then there must be some money-back guarantee for you if the player is not right for you/your system. If not, then don't buy it from that dealer. I recommended this player for many reasons, one of which is that Denon is a trusted manufacturer and has produced many quality products over the years.
