A local dealer is selling out his stock of the Sony DVP-S7700 and the most I'd have to pay is $605 out the door. It might be less depending on which "discount coupon" is in the balloon I'd pop. :-)
Since I'm using an older model (Sony KV35V65, I think) non-HD ready TV and don't plan on up-grading in the near future, is this a good deal, or should I be looking elsewhere at this price point?
The sale ends in 48 hrs, so timely advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I'd pop for the Technics at the under $400 for a list $1200 player that is rated better than the Sony by the Stereophile Guide to Home Th. current issue. I pad $800 for the Technics and find it worth every penny.
Elizabeth,
Can you tell me if the technics unit passes a 24/96 signal throghthe coaxial output or if it down converts it to 16/48?
Thanks
