Hi:
Hope I'm in the right aisle. I get a popping sound from the left channel(2 channel setup)when I play DVD's, Santanas' Supernatural,
Gladiator etc. I switched speakers, so I know it's not the speaker, still pops on the left side. By the way this only happens when changing songs/chapters in DVD mode, it does not happen when I use the DVD to play CD's or use the tuner. I have an Marantz SR8000 A/V receiver, and a Denon 3700 DVD/CD changer. I have disconnected the TV also(it's a dinosaur with a lot of mileage), and still no luck. I apologise for the wind & would appreciate any help.

It has broken output amps and one that is broken is biased with DC current. So why does it pops??? Cause it has MUTE circuitry as the very last in it's audio chain and MUTE is activated each time you skip a song ar hit a PAUSE or similar action. On movies on chapter change or PAUSE as well.
So after MUTE command is released, DC from DVD hits your amp every time and capacitors in your amp compensate for this DC, and as long as nothing changes it is all OK. When MUTE circuitry engages in DVD again, it will short the output of DVD, and caps in your amp discharge and make pop again. And so on, and on...Take another DVD to confirm this fault, and then go for repair. Or if you can use digital out or optical, this will not be affected by this problem.
At high powers, this can blow amp or speakers. So carefull.
