will I be able to actually SEE a difference with component connections as opposed to S-video? Some have told me that there will be NO visual difference. Is this true?
Also, what is involved for an ISF tech to 'properly' set up the TV? What do they actually do, and where could I find one?

you should see a difference. Better still is progressive component (if you have progressive component inputs and a DVD player that outputs a progressive signal).
