You do know that using an old VCR as a video switcher will seriously degrade your video quality, right?
Especially if you have a DVD with component out, and instead use S video through the VCR.
It will likely reduce many of the benefits of using an HTPC.
Are you sure you want to do this? I would assume there are video cards for your computer that could do a better job.

i used it for the monitor out from the vcr.the tv doesnt have component video only composite/f-connector/svideo.
as we have svhs tapes i was hoping to leave that cable in place but i guess i could always just switch-out the scable when we want to watch a dvd.
