I recently got a new Onkyo 676 for a good deal ($560 total).I am ot considering getting some new speakers, but I don't know how well it can handle 4 ohms. The Reciever says it is rated at 6ohms min, but I am told they can handle lower.
This is for music and HT and would be looking at the following setup
(note, 4ohms means standard rating...they will drop a bit lower than f at particular frequencies)1) center channel at 4ohms, rest at 8ohms
2)front 3 speakers at 4ohm, surrounds at 8ohms.The speakers will be set to small (I have a separate sub). While I don't blat the hell out of my music, I do like having decent volumes (especially with movies).
Many Thanks for any help.
Follow Ups:
I have the Onkyo 989, which also advises a 6 ohm minimum. My M&K's are rated for 4 ohms. I blast my music at ear splitting levels frequently and play my movies at THX ref. I haven't had any problems.
