My Sharp 64" HDTV accepts 480P but converts it to 1080I to display it.
Given the above would there be any advantage to getting a Progressive
player?
I'm mostly interested in DVD-Audio, however if any improvement is to be had I'd love to hear about it.

If your monitor does convert the 480p to 1080i WOW yes go for it!
You will be happy and get a picture worth drooling over. PS: make SURE the DVD's progressive does 3:2 pulldown too.
