>>Why shouldn't a high-end system improve the emotional impact of a movie/video/DVD? Does our vision so overwhelm our hearing?Well in theory it should sound better. Execution is an issue. Most HT decoding is done by a chip via precisely determined methods. It's easy to do.
Second is distraction. Your attention is on the movie so you're not as tuned in to subtle differences.
Now it could be that all the digital stuff screws up or compromises the 2 channel performance. My 2 channel pre-amp simply sounds better to me than the digital HT pre-amp I have for music. I also have no desire to upgrade the HT part though a hi-end unit might sound a bit better for HT, that little difference isn't important to me.
In addition, mikem had a Lexicon which is well respected. He sold it and bought a Sony for HT and BAT for 2 channel. He is much happier with the BAT for music and doesn't seem to miss the Lex on HT at all.
Sorry... That message number is not valid.
