Hi all, I just got an used DD receiver Marantz SR685, but when I first turned it on, an error message saying "ERROR NO.02" appeared on the display!!! It stayed on for about 30 seconds, then the receiver turned itself off. No sound from start to end. Does any body know what the problem is? Is the receiver defective? Can it be easily fixed? Or is there something that I have missed? I check all setup and manual but I can't fix the problem. I need your help as soon as possible since I bought it through Escrow and have only 3 days for examining before I release the payment. Thanks for any help and I will greatly appreciate it.Raymond

ditto, it COULD be a short somewhere outside.... also check your connection behind the unit for any stray wires grounding against the unit or jumping two connectors. the previous Suggestion is the way to go.Sam
When you power on most modern equipment it has to pass an internal self-test before it will go "on-line". Sounds like yours’ failed.First thing to do is to disconnect everything but the power cord & start over. If it comes ready with nothing else connected it may be ok. Start by hooking up 'known good' speakers with 'known good' speaker cable. If it comes ready at this point it doesn't mean that you’re in the clear yet, the component may still be bad.
Connect one component at a time, power it up and see what happens. You may (if your lucky) have damaged a cable when you were disconnecting the original unit.
Good Luck
