Can one wire multiple 5.1 setups in multiple rooms off of one HT system? In other words...I have a a family room with a den directly below it in the basement. I am in the process of hooking up a low-mid fi system in the family room. The system will contain 5 surrounds, an active subwoofer, a HT receiver, a DVD/CD player, Hi-Fi VCR and TV.
Is it possible to hook up another set of 5.1 speakers and a second TV in the den but have them run through the receiver (and DVD and VCR)?
If so, do I need any additonal items (i.e. speakers switch box?)
Probably can't do it, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

You'd need 10 channels of amplification to pull this off. And full dual zone capability. My recommendation, an inexpensive receiver for the 2nd system is the easiest solution.
