I have a Pioneer DV-09, Sony DVP-S7000, Denon DVD3000 and Toshiba 3006 players. The Sony has not been reliable as a CD transport (refuses to play a number of discs, once became stuck and refused to open). When it works, however, it has very good transport sound.
The Toshiba is a terrible transport with awful sound and apparently high levels of jitter.
The Denon is fine, but hardly reference quality.
The Pioneer DV-09 sounds pretty good, has the best picture and has the added advantage of delivering a 24/96 bitstream at its digital output. I bought mine for $1300 from Canada.
Mike,What do you do with all those DVD players?
