The Sony DVP-S7000 uses Burr Brown DAC's for audio. I believe the DVP-S7700 uses Sony DAC's for audio. The transports may also be different. The DAC change does change the sound but since you would use it as a transport for CD's the audio DAC will not matter. I have a DVP-S7000 and I think it is compeditive in its price class as a CD player.
Happy Hunting
The sony 7000 has burr brown dacs? Are you sure? I think you might be wrong on that one.
Hmm... Can't find the review that gave me that info. The dealer told me about the DAC's and I think I read the same thing in a review in s-phile or some place like it. Can't find the article now though. The dealer has a tendency to try to figure out what you want to hear as he talks to you and then modify his presentation accordingly. I have no proof of the DAC's being Burr Brown's at this time.
