Does anyone get involved in trouble shooting and or repairing TV's?
Mine's acting funky. After being powered off for several hours, upon power up the picture is shorter on top and bottom. I power on/off several times and the picture returns to normal and stays till powreed down again???
Thanks
Mitch
Follow Ups:
What brand and model number? For instance, Toshiba TVs have 2 el. capacitors that get weaker after maybe 10 years and the picture shrinks in from the top and bottom.
Mitsubishi 27" CS-2710RA. That's interesting as the unit is now 10 years old and the picture is shrinking from top to bottom.
Thanks,
Mitch
Perhaps C411, 19" Mitsubishis uses a 4.7yF/250V cap. Yours will be slightly higher capacity. Of course, you need to have previous experience working on TVs before you attempt to replace this, otherwise DO NOT because of the High Voltages involved.....
There are usually two (red) capacitors that have to be replaced. Most of them I have ran into are 1uf@50volts. They are usually easy to spot because they are usually the only red ones in there. Be careful of the high voltage though. I recommend that you first read Sci Electronics safety information. It is easy to find (just type it in search in any search engine) and it is very helpful. It is very easy to replace these as long as you are careful. I have replaced 50 or more with no trouble.
