I am considering buying a DVD player with built in DD and DTS decoder or a DVD player with DD and DTS out puts and buying a stand alone converter. But I can not find a stand alone converter. Does anybody make a stand alone DD and DTS decoder with out a built in full feature pre amp or power amp? This would intergrate into my two channel stereo system. I would then add a rear channel amp and speakers.

hi,
i actually have a technics dolby digital stand alone decoder for sale. it worked great for me. i'll sell it to you for $100 plus shipping. check my ebay feedback rating if you are not comfortable (jasonz29). it works perfectly but the technics badge fell off of the front. other than that, it is perfect. for $100, you cant go wrong! email me if you are interested jasonz29@yahoo.com
Rotel used to make one, I think it was called a 485. You can look for a used one. I think I sold mine for $100.In reality, it's probably cheaper just to get a complete 5.1 channel receiver. Fairly descent ones from Technics, Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic all sell for $300 to 600.
The Vantas has DD & DTS plus a 3 channel amp built in. Perfect for adding to a 2 channel system.
