Hi, right now, I've got 2 pairs of speakers, one for my audio system and one for my HT system. The HT speakers are driven by a Yamaha RXV795 which has pre-ins and preouts. Of course, I'd like to get rid of my HT speakers and use my higher quality audio-only speakers (cleans up the mess of having 2 pairs of speakers as well, makes my room look like some audio shop). So, can I use my receiver as a decoder ? Drive my center and rear speakers with it, and the front with my audio power amp. How ??? Thorugh the tape loops ? I think I can, but I'll have to fiddle with 2 volume controls. Anybody can confirm my theory ?
Thanks, Rgds

I don't think you can use the 795 as a decoder since it doesn't have a DTS or AC3 decoder built in - If your DVD player has the decoder you shouldn't have a problem.
Sorry, I think I should have said "can I use my AC3/DTS Yamaha RXV-795 as a processor" like the dedicated AC3 processors e.g. Sony EP-9ES, etc. Thanks
