I have a Sony DVP S9000es. I want to be able to use the 480p feature. The guys at Best Buy say that I need to purchase a "HDTV ready" set to do 480p. I thought that all I needed was a TV with component in and I was good to go. The manual for the Sony says that I need a set that will accept 480p with no other explaination. Thanks Sony! So what TVs out there will display 480p in a 36" CRT? TIA Michael

If you are interested in viewing DVDs on 480p capable monitor, you should definitely checkout the Samsung tube models. The now discontinued TSK3092WF is 30" diagonal and does 480p on a 16:9 screen. It now retails for about $1800 if you can still find one. The model has just been replaced by TSL3095WHF which looks the same outside, but is 480p, 720p, and 1080i capable. The new model's MSRP is about $2200. I have the older model and 480p rendering on the unit is fantastic. These are the cheapest 16:9 tube units with 480p capability on the market, as far as I can tell.
