I want to buy one of those as a trade for my bro. He uses a Cary 2-channel integrated amp in his h/t set-up and is willing to trade it for a decent under $500 av reciever. I know nothing of these(what should they have, all kinds of processors, decoders,etc). What's a good one for that price? Also, which stores in LA would be a good source?
Thanks.
Follow Ups:
You have to consider the Outlaw 1050 receiver at $499.It is only available direct from the manufacturer.
Excellent value.

Thanks John, I looked it up on their site as well as in archives here.
Seems decent enough. The only question I have is how does it sound as an amplifier to play music with, using the front speakers?
Thanks.
Dmitry,I bought my Outlaw 1050 receiver early last year and it met or exceded all of my expectations. However, my priority was for multi channel home theater.
I know that the unit compared favorably with other receivers out at the same time and was certainly a better value than most. Check out this review as it may closer reflect your concerns;

The following links to over 70 separate reviews, and this might also be of some help:

Again, I feel the unit will hold its own against many other more expensive receivers out there and I when I plan my next hardware upgrade, the upcoming Outlaw separates will be high on the list under consideration.
I hope I have provided some help.
