Hello,My sister just had a baby boy and she and her husband asked me for DV Cam recommendations. I don't know as much as many of the posters here so I'm hoping for some advice.
I need something in the $600 - $900 range that also takes stills and is compatible with both Mac & Windows. The catch is the Mac is an older imac that only has USB ports and the PC is a laptop w/Win2000 (NT based). I imagine I can use a camera that has a serial port for the PC and a firewire (with an adaptor) for the Mac.
If I'm correct about that, the main concern is software.

Try www.circuitcity.com. Their site explains all the basic features then lets you select the models that have the features you want. When you find the model you like, use a search engine to find the best price. Take that price to your local Sears and have them match it. To interface with a PC, you'll need one of the digital formats such as mini-DV. JVC is probably the brand to look for in that price range.
