I am about to buy a new TV set and was wondering if it would make sense to wait a bit longer - my budget is limited to $800. I am mostly craving for progressive scannning (for dvd) which is only available on hdtv and some dtv units. I guess I'll have to go with non-xbr Wega. Thanks.

Samsung is making some EDTV sets. They accept a progressive scan from a dvd player, but can't do HDTV. I have no experience with these personally, but they do exist. I'm not sure about price, but they may be available for your budget. I know I've seen a couple at best buy. you may also check www.hifi.com since they carry samsung also. check samsung usa web site to see what they have.good luck.
