I would appreciate input mainly from Plasma TV OWNERS...I have heard that if/when one or more pixels go OUT, there is no way to repair them. This concerns me, but I don't really know how often this occurs, or how apparent it is if a few pixels bite the dust.
Please describe your experience as an owner of this technology. Can one reasonably expect 5 to 10+ years of trouble free enjoyment? I would hope so, given the expense of these sets!
Thanks for your input...

My first screen was the Fujitsu. It came with a line running through the screen. They wanted to repair it? Get it outa here. I have the Sony 42 now and it seems fine. I tend to agree with the gent below. Once they are going they should last a long time. There's no going back...
I've had my NEC 50" 50MP1 for four months, and it is teriffic. No problems,; it's like watching a beautiful, clear photograph, but with motion.
I am not sure any mathematical formulas for projecting longevity is as good as experience... While it is true that an individual pixel can not be fixed in most current designs, that alone sould not be a problem. In general, if the pixel works for the first 100 hours, chances are that it will work for a very long time. How noticeable is a bad pixel is dependent upon 2where the pixel was that died (center or edge), the size of the panel, the size of the pixel and the viewing distance. Would a tiny black speck on your TV screen bug you?... Oaul
