  I wanted to see the Panasonic too. I went to the Ken Cranes on Sherman Way and looked at the Panasonic 42, the Pioneer 50 and the Sony 42 plasma displays. The Panny looked best.

  Jeff - Genesis Audio/Video in Lake Forest has a number of them to
  see. I even saw a Sony in COSTCO last week. Digital Ear in Santa
  Ana may have some also. Check both of these store's web pages.
