I have found that the Pioneer DV-09 had less bass and did not sound as good as a 10 year old JVC or Denon cd player. Keep a CD player for music.
Just because the Denon DVD uses the same chips as Mark Levinson Does NOT mean they will sound the same. There is a lot more to it than the DACs.
but I've evaluated the DV-09 at length in many system configurations with far better digital equipment than what you mention.I found the DV-09 warm balanced in a variety of sytems, as have the professionals who have reviewed it. It does not equal my $4k digital rig, but I find it hard to imagine that most people would agree with your findings.
