I have a Sony Wega whose stand-by light blinks 5 times every 3 second interval. Picture and sound come out okay. The manual says to count how many blinks, turn the TV off and call the service center. I did and the lady at the customer care center says it's normal. The light didn't use to blink and only started when I connected a DVD player's video output direct to the TV thru the S-video cable. All other audio and video outputs were coursed thru the A/V receiver. Is there something wrong with the TV? Anyone with the same experience?

I have an ES WEGA and some times it just blinks randomly, however what I have found is a remote sending out similar codes or incomplete codes generally causes the problem. I have had some difficulties getting correct codes in to my Marantz RC5000 which appear to be causing the problem.Keep an eye out when it happens and see if is after you press the buttons on your remote.
It's just a thought.
I used the original Sony remote and the problem stopped. I guess the Pioneer multi-command remote was sending out some sort of signal.
Glad I could help. I've got around the problems on the pronto by actually finding the genuine codes and not attempting to record them through the remote.
