Bought myself a used Pioneer DVD-333, but didn't get an owner's manual. I know how to make it play CDs, but don't know what to do to play a DVD. I know I could connect the audio and video outs on the player to my basic TV's audio and video ins. But then the NAD integrated and speakers aren't involved and I'm not hooked up to play CDs.
Questions:
(1) Can I connect the audio out of the player to the CD ins on the amp and connect the video out of the player to the TV in and get DVD sound (as well as CD sound)?
(2) Can I use my current CD interconnects for the audio part and just get a single video interconnect or do I hafta get one of these three connector interconnect sets?
Sorry to bother with such an elementary question. The Radio Shack guy was a prick and I couldn't follow his brush off explanation. If you have an answer for me, could you please type slowly and clearly, assuming I'm a 4 yr. old (or my wife)? Thanks!
Follow Ups:
OK...yesyou can do what you said, Just get a video cable and run it to your TV then have both the receiver and TV on....pop in a CD and viola! sound and pictures.
You need not get the three connector cable as you would have to rip it apart to make the video portion reach the TV "in" jack anyway. Just get a single video cable (pre-ripped, as it were) and you should be in business.
I'd recommend getting an A/V receiver in the future so you can plug that DVD player into the "DVD" input and take advantage of the surround sound that makes DVD so freakin cool.
Thanks,Manny. Just to make sure I'm getting it right, I can use my amps CD input to get both CD and DVD sound? (That was what I was hoping, but figured there was a catch)
Unfortunately, until I get a new room and/or wife, 2-channel is going to have to suffice. Still pretty fun when considered in the context of the entirety of human history.
