OK...yesyou can do what you said, Just get a video cable and run it to your TV then have both the receiver and TV on....pop in a CD and viola! sound and pictures.
You need not get the three connector cable as you would have to rip it apart to make the video portion reach the TV "in" jack anyway. Just get a single video cable (pre-ripped, as it were) and you should be in business.
I'd recommend getting an A/V receiver in the future so you can plug that DVD player into the "DVD" input and take advantage of the surround sound that makes DVD so freakin cool.

Thanks,Manny. Just to make sure I'm getting it right, I can use my amps CD input to get both CD and DVD sound? (That was what I was hoping, but figured there was a catch)
Unfortunately, until I get a new room and/or wife, 2-channel is going to have to suffice. Still pretty fun when considered in the context of the entirety of human history.
