I am considering upgrading my Pioneer DV09 to the Sony 9000ES because it offers progressive scan. I just purchased the new Sony 40XBR700. I believe the combination of both Sony DVD player and TV will give me much better picture. I am going to use the component output of the player direct to the TV. Using Monster M1000V component cable.
How is the audio on the 9000ES compared to the DV09? I certainly would appreciate some comments. It seems the 9000ES is about to be replaced with a new unit??? Any information about this matter?
Thanks.

Finally found someone who has the 40"XBR. I previewed that unit at J&R in New York in August and was disappointed. I had the ability to do a side by side with the Sony 36" 16:9 that was on the floor with it. Since the 40" was set up by Sony techs its poor performance was a puzzle. The source was sony pro scan 700 unit. The disk it self was a sony demo. When I asked the Sony floor people why the other set was much better in its viewing they were puzzled also. The suggested it might have been the that the 40" was not calibrated. They were truly upset and they then turned off the 36". Since it could have been the dvd player I would double check before getting a 700 pro scan.Would be very interested in your further comments.
The new Sony 40" TVis going to arrive on Friday. I will be using a DV09 or 9000ES DVD player. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to do a side by side comparison of the TV. My wife does not want me to purchase a projection TV and so just for the sake of size, I decided on the new Sony 700. Once installed, I will follow up with some comments. How about the Sony 9000ES? Prices are dropping and I guess a new version with full service SACD is in the works. What a crazy business. When will the maddness stop.
Look forward to your posting your experience with the 700. Did you buy the Sony stand? I wished the unit was all black. The silver trim would never go with the wife factor. I'm looking into having it painted by a professional. Did you choose a dvd player? A panny 91 seems the best bet at this point. I'm holding off on the dvd until I make the decision on the tv. Might go to the plasma unit if I can't get the unit painted. Hope all goes well in your set up and viewing.
No, I did not buy the stand. I have an entertainment center and am currently reinforcing the shelves to hold the 265 lb. Sony TV. It will just fit with one inch left on the sides and back. I hear that Sony is coming our with a replacement for their 9000ES DVD/SACD player. The new player with have five channel SACD. I definitely want progressive scan with this new TV. I want a 50" plasma... but too expensive.I live in a high rise building in Chicago. We are getting a new cable service with Direct TV capability. Wish me luck. Thanks for your response.
