Has anyone used Magneplaner speakers in a home theater setup.
Any reviews would be appreciated.
I use 2.7s in front & LR1s for the rear (mounted horizontally for a more ambient distant image). Both backs are housed in large open-ended hemi-cylindrical egg-cate foam-rubber to aid distiction untainted artificial air. As soon as I find an adequate price on the CC1s I will purchase that too.
I heard them once briefly, in a store. My impression of that brief session was not positive. The question is are you happy with them?
I thought I made that clear by indicating my lust for a MGCC1.The dynamics & imaging could be better, but complete lack of artefacts is extraordinary. You see, the image is geometricly compromised albeit far from eliminated, by placement of the tweaters next to the mids in order to fascillitate extraordinarily smooth staging from left to right channels. However, the egg-crate tweak delivers detail not hear from stock Maggies. Also, the drivers' efficiencies have to be aligned.
But, I just got through auditioning them on a Krell 250 & have to say the Krell automaticly rectified all the tweaking I had preiously done that made them acceptable on other amps. I know, I disconnected them & remarkably nothing charged. This makes absolutely no sense to me! But, you know the KAV-500 is on my wish list.
The Maggies, like all speakers of this type are picky about power. If the Krells work, stay with them. Happy listening.
I haven't found that to be true on any amp that handles 4ohms, but instead the usual problem of LF attenuation from under powering. In fact, my present NAD AV716 does just as well as the Bryston @ thrice the power above 60Hz.
