I'm looking to upgrade to a receiver that can do 6.1, both discrete and matrix. I've narrowed my search down to the Denon 3802 or the Onkyo 898. All opinions and feedback regarding these 2 brands is very much appreciated. My speakers are Studio 40's mains Studio CC Studio 20's side surrounds Studio 20's back surrounds. All are version 2. My sub is a PW-2200

I think the Onkyo 898 i have researched both in depth and from what i can see that the 898 is the better because it does 7.1 dolby surround ex whereas the donon isn't and is thx certified unlike the denon. But however the 898 is almost double the price of the Denon i think.
I have the Denon 3801 with studio 100's studio CC and 2 sets of the monitor audio silver series surrounds. I don't use the 3801 to power the studio 100's, because I have 2 marantz ma500's. The 3801 does a great job both in processing and powering the 4 surrounds and center. It has lots of options to tweak and play with until you get to a sound that you prefer.
