Okay all, Looking for help... where would find good refrances to help guide and teach some one video/audio.. I find that every time I start with glossary's or terms, I just get confused... were do I start? I have the intrest, I need a guide... Also, have any of you bought or looked at the new DLP projecter from yamaha.. Looked at one today. I was plesently surprised with the quality of the picture. The unit was not truly a HDTV, but it did have over 900,000 Pix, and did accept a HDTV tuner.. also it was silent in operation.. you could stand right under it and not hear a peep! The unit was displayed on a 106inch screen and it was very bright.. it has the ability to display on a 200 inch screen.. unit is 9,999.99 and runs about 17,000 when all is said and done, thanks for the help all..
Follow Ups:
Subscribe to a bunch of the home theater magazines and start there. I subscribe to just about everything audio/video related and just read, read, read. There are also TONS of online places to get information, though like most things you'll have to do a lot of reading before it all starts to come together. I was in your boat before and confused as can be, but just kept reading all of the magazines I could get my hands on and after a while it started making sense. That's my best advice for you at this point.
You can also just post all of your questions here and home someone might answer them. I'll try to answer a few if I have the info.
Cheers,
Shawn
the Yamaha, but Yamaha has no reputation for video display. As such, I would not recommend buying a Yamaha.
... supposing you are not totally confused, glean from them the areas in which they contradict. This will point you toward areas you need to follow up and check upon. Then either go to a library & look up some mags, maybe even buy a few, and do a search here on AA and the net. Use Google - it is on its own.Take your time and try not to get too enthusiastic about any one product just because you like the salesman. Note that this is their art. They persuade you to love them so much you do not wish to offend them by buying elsewhere. Finding a nice dealer is important but do not let it cloud your judgement, particularly if you are spending big bucks.
On the magazine front I subscribe to "The Perfect Vision" and they have some excellent articles. They have a site on the net. There are quite a few other good mags around and other inmates might be able to make recommendations. Regardless most of what you will want to research is already on the net.
Be patient, you will not self educate in a few days & have fun while doing it. Come back here with some more specific questions and we might be able to assist further. I cannot comment on the equipment you mention but maybe others can.
