Pretty decent sounding unit for an integrated considering it is under $1300 with full remote control. The 85 WPC rating is probably for marketing purpose because although it sounds fast and loud, it does not have the clarity or control that the "real" power units have. I think there is a certain exciting feel to the sound but it is not really natural or honest. Piano and strings does not sound quite right in terms of timbre and harmonic. So depending on specific musical taste of each person, I have to carefully voice my recommendation. Jazz and instruments fan: better look someplace else. Pop, electronic or new age: you might be OK here because this unit does have a fast and tactile sound. For the critical listener, I would (for about the same money) get a Bryston B60 or maybe a used YBA unit. Because when your ears itch for doing some critical listening, you don't have to worry about changing your amp again.
Product Weakness: | Not quite up to snuff for critical listening on piano and strings. |
Product Strengths: | Good value mid fi unit with remote control convenience and decent power output. |
