That's why I like Magnepan & Velodyne. They are smooth without the slightest hint of compromising liquidity. I wanted line-level tubes to generate a laid-back character with the depth of stage that'll be lacking in an agressive Krell KAV-500 I want to buy. Why? Because the Krell made the Maggies (that were the least colored speakers I could find/make) even more articulate than I thought was even conceiveable. Together the sound should only be spacious when its supposed to be & intimate with plenty of depth during dramatic moments in music as well as HT.Besides my extensive proclivity towards eclectic music videos & live LDs completely obliterates the distinction.
Hi,
if you have not auditioned the Proceed home theater amp, i think you will like it a lot. Think it's made by Bryston. Other posters have said they are nice with Maggies, i just think they're nice.
I think you are getting the Lexicon amp confused with the Proceed amp. The Proceed is built by Madrigal the same company that make Mark Levison. The Lexicon 5 channel amp is made my Bryston.
I'll try that too. A Krell dealer is trying to steer me in that direction anyways touting that he receives the same compromission either way. I figure that it's worth a listen, but I hope it's better than the Bryston I've heard. To make a long story short the Bryston made my rear channel MGLR1s sound like a Sennheiser HD480 while the Krell made them sound like a HD600. It wasn't even close.
