Your proposed usage is fine.Currently SACD can only be listened to thru analog outputs so no problems there.
No problems with DVD either if you can live without surround sound.
That's the only drawback. Most DVD's have a 5.1 DD/DTS soundtrack that sounds best when decoded.Maybe a Sennheiser Lucas which produces a pseudo 5.1 effect thru 'phones ?

Thanks, Michael, for the comments on the Sony 9000 DVD player. I'm not really into HT as much as I am just the music. It sounds like the 9000 will work out for me both as an SACD player (when/if that market picks up more momentum) and as a DVD player for when I can upgrade my TV and have better sound while watching the movie. I really like watching movies and using my headphones/headphone amp setup. I hear so many more details that way.Stephen
