I'm setting up a home theater system in the bedroom. I have an
M&K MX-150 THX center speaker, and M&K 750THX L/R. Will also be
getting an M&K subwoofer. All are 4 0hm. I've been looking at the
Denon 3802 for around $700, to go the easy route. Have an old Harmon Kardon AVR20 dolby pro logic receiver in the garage. Would love to go to separates but trying to keep the receiver/processor with DD, DTS and THX under $1000. Is there anyway possible to use the old HK receiver as a preamp and get a higher power amp to drive the whole system?I also have a Sony 7700es and a Panasonic to connect. Have a Stealth
HAC Power Cord and Analysis Plus Oval 12 speaker wire. My primary
interest is great sound for the HT.
Follow Ups:
G'day, what if you got the Denon and used the Harmon Kardon? Use the Denon to drive the rear and center, and use the line level out to drive the Harmon Kardon which drives the speakers, thus more headroom for all amps by shareing the power usage. Just an idea!
regards Robert.
All movies with DD also have pro logic and IMO that can sound VERY good with good processing and amplification. I'm not denying that DD can be most impressive but is there much point in going overboard for a bedroom HT system unless you have ulterior motives not to be publicised!!!. Not that I can talk with all the stuff around this house but it is a case of "do what I say, not what I do" :-))Have fun whatever you end up with!
