I bought a Panasonic RV80 this summer due to word that this discontinued model had one of the best picture images in its price range. I bought a disconinued/floor model from the Wiz for $180.00, and it looks quite fine. While they gave me a remote, they did not have a manual. One thing I have found is that on some widescreen discs (maybe 1 out of 5 or 6), it won't give me a widescreen image, it formats it to fullframe (BOO!!!) Since I don't have the manual, can any one who has this or a simular player clue me in about this: is it a menu selecton I'm not finding, or a fault of the player. Also, anyone know how I can get in touch with Panasonic to try and buy a manual for this player (unless someone could help me with a photocopy)

I guessing, that you are not familiar with the "set-up" section of DVD players? There are "preferences" that allow the DVD player to automatically select between "Full-screen" and "Wide-Screen", among other options, when the software is loaded into the player. Whereas, some DVD software is written to force you to choose formats when the software is loaded.
With all three Panasonic players I've owned, this menu was accessed from the remote with the button labeled "action". You may or may not have to have a DVD in the player and will probably need to hit the stop button twice to wipe the resume memory to access the menu.PS: I just e-mailed you the manual for the DVD RV-80.
Good luck,
Fish
The e-mail I sent you with a 1.86mg PDF attached, came back. You need to go to customer support section of Panasonic's web-site and then to the operating manual section.
Then grab the pull-down menu for "Product category" and select DVD players. You'll need to hit the next button 5 or 6 times, but you'll find the manual there.
Thanks for the help. The DVD player had been formatted for a 16x9 television. The action button did it all. Thanks!
