Hi, I just got this TV and everything is great except for a "banding" effect. It occurs when an image is brighter than the surrounding area and it looks like a dark band trailing the bright image. The band only trails to the right side of the bright image. Is this common on these TV's or is this a "feature" that Sony thinks we need? If this is a feature, can I turn this feature off in the service mode? Thanks,
LenF
Hi, If any one can provide information on how to calibrate this TV I would greatly appreciate it. There are alot of parameters in the service mode that were not present in my old trinitron. I've already copied the default values for the parameters, but am hesitant to calibrate the unit until I decipher more of the parameters. Thanks,
LenF
LenF, do you have a DVD player? If so, you need the Video Essentials DVD, which contains test signals and various other calibration tools needed to calibrate to a referenced standard. I believe the release is also available on VHS tape.
Either way, you must get a reference calibration tape or preferebly, DVD. There is absolutely no way to "guess" on calibration, but I can tell you that you need to turn your "sharpness" control all the way down or off, if possible. This control will only add artifacts to your picture.
Let me know what you've got and please do reply--I'm curious to see what you think after you've been able to properly calibrate your TV.
then tell us whether your problem still exists. You may have a defective unit?
Musical peace...
