I would avoid going to Circuit City, Best Buy and the like. Go to a specialty audio store where they can do a level matched comparison for you. Speakers that work well on music should also suffice for home theater.Todd

Dont worry im in nyc and going to go to lyric hi fi and sound by singer. Both very high end hope they have something for my small 1500 range for 2 fronts and a center lol. They both have web sites give them a look
Make sure all the speakers (excluding subwoofer) in your home theatre are voice/timbre matched — that is, the emit the same tonal footprint. This usually means they are all from the same product line of a specific manufacturer.
I would agree for the three front speakers that timbre matching is important. The rear speakers need to be close to the same efficiency, but, I don't find they need to be timbre matched as the information they carry is mostly "effects" - and not dialog. To me, the question is whether they should be direct, bi-poles, or di-poles. Since THX, DTS, and Dolby have different requirements for speakers in the rear position, it seems to be a bit of a crap shoot at the moment and really room-dependent.
