Does anyone have any opinions on this DD/DTS preamp-processor? I'm considering getting one purely for HT and would appreciate any input.
Thanks.
This is a heckuva preamp. If you have a good cd player or DAC I would say to give the Sherwood a try for stereo music as well - the stereo analog bypass is killer. Don't pass up a listen.Rich
Also check out reviews at audioreview.com under preamps, and the many review from the magazines (HT, SGHT, Stereo Review, AV Interiors). Rave reviews by all - of course the most important one is your own. Check it out.Rich
I own this pre/pro/tuner, and for $800 it can't be touched. Honestly, you'd have to spend $3000 before you'd get better performance, and even then, it probably wouldn't be noticable on DD/DTS/DPL. The Sherwood is well built, looks nice, has tons of features, is easy to use, and sounds great. I wouldn't hestitate to purchase it. Good luck!
I have this piece and for the money I think it is great. Go to digitaltheater.com and do a search in the forum. There were some very lengthy threads several months ago that went into some detail on features and performance.
