Looking at NEC 42MP3, Hitachi CMP4121HDU and Panasonic PT-42PD2-P. Not interested in Sony model. Any suggestions or personal experience.

match it with a dedicated (custom-built) Faroudja Native Rate processorbut what about tomorrow?
all the models you've listed are ancient technology, and you can expect them to be heavily discounted in the comming months (unless all you want to do is display power point)
plasma, as marvelous as it is today, has just lost out to something new...
"Open the pod bay door HAL..."
Hey petew,What are you talking about?
What will date plasma and make it obsolete - aside from a 20 year old acid tripping movie reference? What was HAL anyway? By today's standards, a Commodore 128 , maybe an XT? What would I want to put inside a 40 inch wide cabinet for no more than a few thousand?
If new technology makes plasma obsolete won't it cost more?
Thereby making it worthless for me personally?
merry christmas.........Jon
What's new......?
can't remember where I read this but somebody has figured-out how to dope a polymer film to display color images ... just a thin membrane of plastic ... that's your television ... make it as big as you want, with resolution down to the molecular level...imagine the possibilities...
holodecks are just a hop, a skip, and a jump away
Hi,
I am not expert enough to tell the better plasma tvs apart, they all look nice with that 'plasma' quality to the picture. And... I nearly bought the new Sony 40" XBR2 last week on one of those no interest/ no payment deals. Seemed ok to me.
