I just purchased a new DVD (Teac DV=M5000) and a new TV (JVC with component input). When I plug the DVD into the wall, whether or not it is turned on, I get severe interference on my two tv's. I am not on cable. Teac tech says that all DVD's will create interference on a tv connected to an antenna. The only way to avoid this is to unplug the DVD from a power source or subscribe to cable. Is this true?

What kind of antenna cable connection do you use?Is it shielded 75 Ohm RG-6 cable? Or is it unshielded 300 Ohm flat twinax? If it's the twianx, then I recommend changing to the RG-6 cable for the long cable run and using a 300 Ohm to 75 Ohm balun converter at the antenna. I assume you can plug RG-6 coax into your TV's input for antenna.
I have no problem running RG-6 from my roof antenna to my TV and also having a DVD player (Toshiba 3108) hooked up to the component inputs on the TV and even turned on.

What kind of interference are you seeing? I have a DVD player connected to a TV via component input with an antenna feed (not cable) into the TV and I never see any interference from the DVD player. I cannot imagine what your tech guy must be thinking. You may want to try a different DVD player.
I doubt if "all" DVD players do this. It sounds like the shielding on this unit was inadequately engineered, but I have cable myself and have no personal experience with this phenomenon.Todd
